Other Projects

David Thompson, the songwriter and musician behind Woody Overtones Music, has been involved in any number of musical endeavors. Here are a few examples...

The Sweet Groovalicious Funk Machine

The Sweet Groovalicious Funk Machine started off as some musical friends wanting to throw a 70's themed party — and now it's become an annual sold-out costume dance party. Woody Overtones Music's David Thompson is the bass player and organizer of the event.

Little Miss Cutthroat

"Little Miss Cutthroat" is a song from Fishing Music 2, written by David Thompson of Woody Overtones Music. Bringing to life the fun storyline of the song, this whimsical tongue-in-cheek video was filmed on location on the Yellowstone River in southwest Montana.

RESPECT YOUR RIVERS

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, produced 4 commercials as part of the "Respect Your Rivers" Campaign design to promote river etiquette. The link leads to one of the spots, and Woody Overtones Music provided the custom-composed theme song, "Granny Trout."

GROWLING OLD MEN

Growling Old Men is an acoustic folk and bluegrass duo featuring John Lowell and Ben Winship, but they occasionally become a trio by adding Dave Thompson on bass. Among many great shows, two musical highlights were performing on "A Prairie Home Companion" with Garrison Keillor, and then also at the incredible Shetland (Scotland) Folk Festival.
